The regional exclusivity model: beyond the generic intermediary
Central America is full of importers. Companies that buy containers of American chicken, import them, and resell them. There's nothing wrong with that as a business, but there's also nothing differentiated about it. The product arrives, it's sold at whatever price the market bears, and if there's a problem the importer disappears or blames the manufacturer.
The exclusivity model works differently. When a manufacturer like Mountaire Farms designates Mezal as exclusive representative for El Salvador and Honduras, they're not choosing a distributor. They're choosing who will be their face and voice in that market. That means Mezal has the responsibility (and the authority) to protect the brand, control prices, and develop the market as if it were their own.
For the local buyer, the difference is tangible. Instead of dealing with an intermediary that handles ten different brands and has no particular loyalty to any of them, they deal with someone who only has one: Mountaire's. That means deep product knowledge, real responsiveness, and a genuine interest in seeing the buyer's business grow.
For the manufacturer, exclusivity eliminates market noise. There are no two distributors competing on price and destroying brand value. No one selling the product outside the agreed channel. There's a partner who responds, reports, and builds the market with discipline. That's what Mezal offers, and it's what differentiates us from any generic importer in the region.
