110 years of Mountaire Farms: the supplier behind Mezal
Mountaire Farms is not an anonymous corporation. It's one of the few large poultry companies in the United States that remains privately and family-owned. That characteristic is not a minor detail: it means decisions are made with a long-term vision, not under the quarterly pressure of public markets.
Founded in 1914, Mountaire today operates four processing plants in Delaware and North Carolina with a combined capacity of more than 8.2 million birds per week. Their facilities in Millsboro and Selbyville (DE) and Lumber Bridge and Siler City (NC) are among the most modern in the industry, with fully automated processing lines and state-of-the-art traceability systems.
The Mountaire portfolio covers virtually every chicken cut: from boneless skinless breasts in IQF format to paws for export to Asian markets. For the Central American market, Mezal has access to the 10 main cuts of the portfolio, with volume and frequency conditions adapted to the region's needs.
Choosing Mountaire as a supplier partner was not a casual decision. It was the result of evaluating multiple American producers and selecting the one that offered the best combination of quality standards, supply consistency, export capacity, and willingness to build an exclusive long-term relationship in Central America.
